Finding a good therapist
Posted by et on 4. 7. 2024 at 12:12Hey everyone, I’ve been on a quest for the right therapist recently, and it’s been a journey! At first, I felt like I was drowning in options. Getting recommendations from friends who’ve had positive experiences with therapy helped along with getting to know what to look for in a therapist. It really narrowed down the search and made me feel more confident about my choices. How about you guys? Any tips to share?

In some cities it is very hard to find someone immediately, especially if the therapist is good. And for child psychologists you must wait for 6 months! So location is maybe a good factor to have, but where I live sometimes you have to go a long way. In my opinion the most important thing is definitely compatibility, even a therapist is a human with their own preferences and a certain style. If that does not suit you, you just have to look for someone else who you feel understands you better. For that you have to really listen to your inner voice, what is it telling you. -

Remember, the therapist is primarily there to help you to find the solution to your issues, not to provide you with solutions him or herself. So it is vital that you feel relaxed and comfortable with them. That is something you can get from one sitting, but sometimes you need a little more, so do not feel discouraged.
