Environmental anxiety
Posted by soff0 on 5. 7. 2024 at 21:53Hi everyone, I have been suffering badly by what can be called environmental anxiety. All the time I worry about climate change, pollution, microplastics and the future of our planet. It has a bad effect on my sleep, my mood, and even my daily life. I feel guilty about my own environmental footprint, and I become anxious when I think about what kind of world we are making for future generations. I try to do everything from my side: recycle, upcycle, do not buy new stuff that I do not need, eat less meat that has a bigger carbon footprint. But it is still there this feeling. Does anyone else have this problem? How do you control these feelings?

Thank you, everyone. I will look for local environmental groups and begin with a small garden. And I will definitely explore mindfulness practices to help with my anxiety. It helps me to know that I am not the only person who has these feelings and that there are things I can do to help the situation.

Hi, I just wanted to add that it’s also important to take care of your mental health while dealing with environmental anxiety. Mindfulness practices, such as meditation and yoga, can help you manage stress and anxiety. There are even specific meditations focused on environmental grief and anxiety. Sometimes, talking to a therapist who understands these issues can also be incredibly helpful.

Environmental anxiety is becoming more common, especially with everything going on. I found that educating myself and taking concrete actions helped alleviate some of my anxiety. For example, I started a small garden and began composting. It’s therapeutic and makes me feel like I’m contributing positively. Have you tried any hands-on activities like that?

There are many resources online to give you help and advice. Plus, many communities offer workshops or have community gardens where you can learn and get involved. It is a great way to make a connection with nature and meet people who think like you do.-

Something that has helped me is to get involved in local environmental groups. It’s empowering to feel like I’m making a difference, even if it’s only small.-
