Hi! It really depends on what stage the rheumatism is in. But a good alternative that I heard of is Boswellia supplements. It is very good as an antiiflammatory remedy for joints. Also I would try to take more vitamin D (it is very often low) and Omega-3 (at least 1g per day). Hydrotherapy practices (warm/cold wraps or showers of the area can reduce pain as well. For reducing the progression I read that yoga (or tai-chi) is a good therapy. Hope it helps!
